Sony Ericsson’s first PlayStation Phone also known as Xperia Play has been captured on film yet again. The images are not only clear and look very authentic, they show new details such as Sonic Ericsson”Xperia” branding and confirmations of Andriod 2.3 operating system.
As can be seen very clearly in the images, the device in these pictures now bears both Xperia and PlayStation branding, reinforcing the notion that the phone will not launch with the moniker “PlayStation Phone.” The newly photographed Gingerbread phone also has a more polished looking touchpad area between the d-pad and the gaming buttons, though the release version may still be further refined.
Also visible is the refined “touch slider” panel with two circle guides finished into the aluminium facing. It appears that these will serve as dual-analogue sticks. The lack of PlayStation branding adds meat to the rumor that the device will not play PlayStation Portable games directly, but mainly Andriod games and PSP ports. There is however a button that takes you to the PlayStation Store.
With the CES around the corner and these phones popping up all over the place, it’s possible that an official announcement about the device will be made pretty soon!
