It’s a new Motorola XT502 Phone with Android app.Now the Motorola XT502 is for North America..
There’s no shortage of Motorola buzz going around lately — thing is, nearly all of that buzz is focused on the Verizon side of the camp. What about the other six-odd national carriers in the States and Canada, five of which are using GSM? Well, for you guys, we submit this so-called XT502 — a phone that may be codenamed “Greco” thanks to the naming of the image file found over in the Bluetooth SIG’s certification directory.
Over the last year Motorola have been releasing impressive Android smartphones, which compete directly with some of the most popular handsets out there. A new handset called the Motorola Greco XT502 has recently been revealed, and looks to be a competitor in the mid-high end market.
It seems like there is a new Motorola cellphone sporting the Android Operative System, more specifically the Motorola XT502 that wasn’t officially announced just yet.
Here we have some information on another yet to be announced Android smartphone from Motorola. The handset is believed to be the Motorola XT502, which carries the codename of Greco.
This fits in with what is expected to come from Motorola this year in regards to Android, except at this point the details are pretty light. The information is coming by way of the Bluetooth Special Interest Group and thankfully they were kind enough to include an image of the front as well as back/side in the listing. Of course, as you can see from the image — its pretty blurry.
Moving onto the details that were revealed in the listing. Those appear to be that the Motorola XT502 is a touchscreen device along with Wi-Fi 802.11 b/g, Bluetooth 2.0 + EDR, GPS/A-GPS and USB 2.0. Of course, those are the usual suspects in terms of Android handsets these days so nothing overly surprising with that.
Anyway, the Motorola XT502 will work with Quadband GSM network and in terms of features it has WiFi, bluetooth, GPS, and supports HSDPA. There aren’t many other known details but we do know that it will have a touchscreen, a trackball, and a 3.5mm headphone jack. We’ll keep you updated about the Motorola XT502 as more details are announced.
Additionally, as we can see from the image, the handset will have a 3.5mm headphone jack and a camera with what appears to be a flash. The good news in that is the Greco could come available in Europe as well as North America. Though, initially the XT502 Greco is expected to be making its way into China.
We can’t gather much from the microscopic image the SIG is using, but they’ve kindly listed radio details, which indicates we can expect a triband HSPA setup working on the 850, 1900, and 2100MHz bands — perfect for AT&T, Bell, Telus, and Rogers with a little dash of Europe thrown in for good measure. It’ll also have WiFi, Bluetooth 2.0 + EDR, and AGPS; in other words, all the basics you expect on a modern Android device.
Carrier and release details are currently unclear, IntoMobile suggest that the handset will almost definitely launch in China and perhaps in North America, however this is all unconfirmed.
That about sums up what is know of the Greco at this point, but with that, I am sure there will be more leaks and reveals before long.
No word on a release plan, but at least it’ll be coming out with some totally legal Bluetooth, right?
