Lenovo plans on selling its LePad tablet worldwide in June, but will first launch the device in China at the end of March. Lenovo‘s first tablet computer LePad was unveiled in January during the Consumer Electronics Show in Las Vegas. The device is built with 10.1-inch screen that runs the Android 2.2 OS on a 1.2GHz Qualcomm Snapdragon processor.LePad is available in four stylish colors with two different textures: scarlet, white, brown leather textured and black leather textured. The 10.1-inch widescreen and rich high definition LePad slate runs in landscape and portrait modes for giving users the ability to consume content such as video, surf the Internet, access social networks from their fingertips, as well as tap out messages and email.
LePad also has a front camera for taking pictures or video chat.Starting with an attractive 4-pane easy to use interface and a distinctive Lenovo developed push service that gives you your email, news, and other content in real time, eliminating the need to constantly open a browser and log in. Lenovo plans for LePad to support Adobe Flash Player 10.1 to provide users an uncompromised web browsing experience.Lenovo said the device would be priced between $399 and $449. But at the time, the company was still unsure whether it would sell the product outside of China.
Lenovo is the world’s fourth largest PC maker and dominates the Chinese market. Recently it has began developing products in the emerging areas of tablets and smartphones. Last month the company established a new business unit focused on developing such gadgets.LePad could be an interesting addition to the budget end of the tablet range and although some will baulk at the lack of Honeycomb or better.
