The Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA) is responsible for spreading the news about important events to the USA citizens via Mobile Messages. It does this via two protocols- Wireless Emergency Alerts (WEA) and Emergency Alert System (EAS) The WEA system is used to warn the public about dangerous weather, missing children, and other critical situations through alerts on cell phones, which includes Tornado Warning and AMBER Alert. Although you can turn off receiving AMBER Alerts, you cannot opt-out of other important nation-wide alerts, the most important of which is the Presidential Alert.
Whether you are using an android phone or an iOS device, you will receive AMBER Alerts. But you can easily turn off receiving these Alerts, just follow the below steps if you are using an Android Device.
Before you Turn Off the Alerts know that AMBER (America’s Missing: Broadcasting Emergency Response) Alerts are a great tool for the Government to reach out to its Responsible Citizens in times of Natural Disasters and in case of abduction. Turning them off might cost valuable lives. But these messages can act as great distractions while you are driving or attending an important business meeting.
