Compared with other slate devices, Nexus 7 promises the best features for the price of $199; however it lacks at one thing: high quality camera. This device comes with 1.2 megapixle built-in camera located at the front side of slate and it is capable to shoot videos at 480 pixels. Just recently one XDA developer have revealed that this slate is also capable to shoot videos in HD at 720 pixels. This tutorial will show you how to use flashable .zip that will enable this feature on your Nexus 7 without any hassles.
Before proceeding with below steps let me note that your device must be rooted and you must have ClockworkMod Recovery installed on your device. If you fulfill these requirements you can continue the steps below.
Step 1: First download MOD ZIP file from this website (Download link is given in first forum post).
Step 2: Once you download file from Step 1, place it on your Windows desktop and make sure you DO NOT extract it, just keep it as it is.
Step 3: Now connect your Nexus 7 with your PC using USB to microUSB cable.
Step 4: Copy MOD ZIP file to root on your SD card.
Step 5: Once the file is copied over, unplug your device from PC and turn off your slate device.
Step 6: Reboot your device in Recovery Mode by pressing Volume DOWN + Volume UP + Power buttons at the same time.
Step 7: In menu that appears you will see a list of options, but you have to choose Recovery.
Step 8: Once you enter in Recovery mode, chose install zip from sdcard and then choose zip from sdcard.
Step 9: Now locate and select MOD ZIP file you copied in Step 5.
Step 10: The device will start flashing this file and once everything is finished you will see a notification.
Step 11: From new menu choose reboot system now and you device will reboot.
Step 12: Now since 720p video recording is enabled on your Asus Nexus 7, go to camera app and test it out.
