Google has now released the Zeitgeist, a report on search patterns and trends, for 2010. New for this year is that they have added interactive HTML5 data visualizations for the top queries and events from around the world.World Cup in South Africa, Canada Olympics, Haiti Earthquake, Oil Spill in the Gulf of Mexico and Volcanic Ash from Iceland. Zeitgeist means “the spirit of the times”.
This visualization is based on data from Insights for Search and Google Trends. The bars visualize the search volume index of a sample of queries relevant to the event. This information allows you to compare how many searches have been done for this event, relative to the total number of searches done on Google over time
Here is the Google Zeitgeist year in Review Video, highlights top events and moments from 2010 around the globe through search, images, and video.
