Broadcom Buys NetLogic Microsystems

Broadcom has announced it is acquiring NetLogic Microsystems in a deal worth around $3.7bn, which will see the company add various processor technologies to its existing wireless chipset business and the deal shows that the communications chip market is still a high stakes battle, as Broadcom tries to fight with a variety of rivals from Intel to Qualcomm, hopes to add more processors to lineup. Broadcom’s combo Bluetooth/Wi-Fi combo chip is used in Apple’s iPhone and iPad as well as Samsung Galaxy S II and the company is looking to NetLogic to provide it with a full suite of processors in the network………………

Windows 8 Tablet Will Run Intel Chip

Microsoft is scheduled to show off their upcoming Windows 8 operating system on a tablet next week, possibly a Samsung manufactured tablet PC and by going with an Intel chip for their first in-depth demo of Windows 8 on a tablet Microsoft is taking the safe route, Intel chips have powered Windows tablet PC’s for years now. This could be a big surprise to many because generally manufacturers prefer ARM processors due to its power efficiency and Intel is working hard to close the power efficiency gap.AMD’s chips are compatible with Windows 8 and AMD chips will support the classic Windows 8 desktop and the tiled Metro user interface so far only seen on Windows Mobile phones……………….

ComScore calls Android top dog, Apple pulls further ahead of RIM and one in four phones in the United States is a Samsung device, with Android gaining ground, as BlackBerrys lose out to cheaper handsets. Google at an impressive 15% increase to top the chart at 41.8% market share followed by the usual suspects, RIM in third at 21.7% (down 5%), and Microsoft at 5.7% (down 1%) and Apple’s market share among mobile OEMs is also on the increase, growing 1.2% to capture 9.5% of the market…………….

Samsung has officially announced LTE versions of the Galaxy SII and Galaxy Tab 8.9 ahead of their IFA debut and the Galaxy SII LTE adding the aforementioned LTE capabilities, a 1.5GHz dual-core processor, and a 4.5-inch Super AMOLED Plus display. LG Introduce New S430 And S530 Aurora Laptops

LG Electronics (LG) brings two new notebooks in their Aurora series, the LG S430 and LG S530. This two laptops are powered by an Intel Core i5 processor. The S430 comes with a 14-inch, 1366 x 768 HD LCD and the S530 is a bit biger, 15.6-inch display, available in either HD or HD+ (1600 x 900) resolution. Both also feature 8GB of DDR3 memory and up to 750GB of HDD space (5400 RPM), along with your standard WiFi 802.11 b/g/n, Bluetooth 3.0 and USB 2.0 connectivity. However the slim, sharp feel of the Aurora notebooks, while bold coloring – in Aurora Purple or Aurora Blue. No pricing information for now, but this two should be available in Africa, Asia and the Middle East by early next month, before making their way to Europe and the US shortly thereafter.
