High-DPI Images Discovered In OS X 10.7.3 – Retina Display iMac May Be On The Way

Apple has a knack of planning in advance for a lot of things. And reviewers and Apple enthusiasts have an equally persistent knack of discerning the smallest hints by Apple. With the release of OS X 10.7.3, it has been discovered that there are a number of high-DPI images in the new OS and that this may indicate that Apple may soon be releasing HiDPI Mac devices. The high-DPI images can be discerned when, for example, you see the shape of the hovering-the-link hand, which is significantly different form what it looked like in OS X 10.7.2. There are many other indications too.

Apple Reports Q4 2011 Results

Apple on Tuesday posted yet another record quarter to conclude its fiscal year 2011, led by continued growth of its iPad and Mac platforms and Apple sold 17 million iPhones, down 16% from the record 20.3 million it sold in the second quarter 2011 and also significantly off Wall Street estimates of 20 million to 22 million. iPad sales during the September quarter were 11.12 million, an increase of 166 percent from the year-ago quarter and Mac sales were the highest ever at 4.89 million for the three-month span. Apple’s cash pile on hand also continued to swell during the quarter and now stands at around $84 billion………………..

Apple Planning New Macs

Apple may be planning on unveiling an all new Mac that is absolutely different from current products and the report seems to claim the product will be so different from current product lines that it will indeed be given a new name. It could be entirely possible that Apple is working on some sort of device running on a combination of OS X and iOS, especially given the iDevice-like features found on Lion and Apple will switch the Mac platform to ARM. Apple even threatened Intel that they’d be taking their business elsewhere unless Intel could get a handle on their mobile chips’ voracious hunger for battery power………….

New Apple Patent Shows Schematic Maps

Apple has shown interest in creating a new Maps application for the iPhone and other iOS devices that would exaggerate some details, like roads or landmarks to make navigation easier to follow and a patent shows that Apple’s maps will simplify things to the user by providing the most relevant information in the given situation. Coincidentally this seems to go with Apple’s overall design philosophy and the patent is called Schematic Maps, which first determines the amount of screen real estate that is available to the user………….
