Pandigital brings 7-inch Novel e-reader

It’s a new e-reader on market by Pandigital.Pandigital known as the brand among digital photo frame manufacturers. The e-reader is new foe this company.Let’s see what happen with this e-reader.

Pandigital’s best known for its hard, hard work in the game-changing digital photo frame world, but the company’s feeling a bit froggy of late. It’s latest leap is into the burgeoning e-reader market, and unlike those from Barnes & Noble and Amazon.Designed with convenience features that help reading enthusiasts get the most out of their eBooks and periodicals, the Pandigital Novel lets customers, with a simple touch of the screen, search for word meanings using the built-in dictionary, review past references with word searches, and make notes with the virtual keyboard. In addition, customers can highlight important text, create multiple bookmarks, and change the font size for optimum viewing. The Novel shares many of the characteristics of Apple’s iPad, which recently launched to great acclaim, including a full-color touchscreen LCD (800 by 600 resolution), the ability to use multiple apps for a variety of applications, and such multimedia capabilities as playing digital photos, music and some video content (at launch the device will not support Flash-based video).Novel boasts a full-color 800 x 600 resolution touchscreen, inbuilt WiFi and dimensions of 5.5- x 7.5- x 0.5-inches. The highlight here is the partnership with B&N, which gives this guy access to the bookseller’s eBookstore, not to mention the ability to share content via LendMe. Pandigital also throws in 1GB of internal memory, an SD / MMC card slot, orientation sensor, and the rechargeable battery is said to be good for a mediocre six hours on a full charge. The $199.99 Novel should be out and about next month supporting PDF, ePUB and HTML formats (yeah, there’s a web browser), and in case you were wondering, it’s based around Android and gets powered by an ARM 11 processor. So everyone what’s you think about Pandigital’s new 7-inch e-reader.

My screen broke two weeks after i got mine for Mothers day.  I even bought a $35 leather case for it to protect it but it got dropped flat on its back and shattered.  I just didn’t think it should be so fragile. Of course Dillards and the company said there was nothing they could do. I guess i’ll put the case on e-bay. My husband replaced it with an ipad 2……much better!

I love my pdn. I knew before I bought it that it didn’t play movies, well not netflix or hulu style movies.  Last week I noticed a Pandigital Planet so I started researching it.  The Planet and two other multimedia tablets are now out. It seems they can do lots of things my pdn can’t.  But Pandigital just put out a firmware update for my novel.  I’ve update (it took me two times for everything to work correctly) but my pdn will now download apps.  The only problem I’ve run into is Netflix doesn’t have an app for our android.

For movies you have to download them on a sd card to put in your reader. To download games you have to have the newer pandigital Android you may have the older model there is an app to up grade the older model just go online to pandigital novel to get the up grade once you go there just look in the upper right corner and look for the up grade box

I bought my pandigital novel a couple of weeks ago. I was unimpressed with its functionality at first. I found the firmware update Android tried to install according to the user guide that was preinstalled on my ereader. That didn’t work, so I emailed pandigital. I got no answer. I found Android update user guide which instruced me to use a computer with the ereader attached via the usb. The download went right in. The upgrade included slideme 4.0. There are still a number of apps that are still not compatable, but for a 130.00 it was well worth it. As to the comment about the screen, the first thing you see when you open the package is warning, “GLASS EXTREMELY FRAGILE.”

I would love to get pandora and Android external keyboard.

My Pandigital Novel will not hold a charge. Does anyone know if the battery needs to be replaced? Can it be replaced?

The pandigital is the worst tablet on the market. Not user friendly at all. I can’t download anything but books… directly from b&n store. I’ m giving this piece of junk to my daughter and getting a Kindle Fire.

Unfortunately, that’s only you. I’ve downloaded more than books. . . Maybe you just don’t comprehend how to use it.

This thing is aweful,  They have attached false advertisement with this.  It doesn’t do anything but obtain (some) books.  DO NOT BUY IT.

I’vr had mine for about a week. I originally got a “Cruz ” for Christmas & really liked it, until I went to turn it on to read my book one day and I got… NOTHING! I returned it and bought the Pandigital. So far I really like it a lot. It accepts many, many more apps than the Cruz did, and the Pandigital allows me to put most of my downloads and all of my books right onto my memory disk. Again…so far, I really like it! It’s no IPad, but it’s quite nice for the $175.00 I paid for it at Best Buy.
