Although there has been a lot of talk about smartwatches in the tech arena, we haven’t seen any significant products on that front until now. Recently, GEAK has unveiled a new product which may qualify to be called a true smartwatch, packing a number of sensors, support for Wi-Fi connectivity and Android 4.1 (Jelly Bean).
Although the GEAK Watch is nifty, tidy and smart in its looks, it comes with a whole lot of features. The smartwatch includes an 802.11b/g/n Wi-Fi module and runs Android 4.1, which essentially allows you to directly download a number of apps.
Not only that, you create a wireless ad hoc network using the smartwatch so that you can text message nearby users who also tool the same watch. To top things up, this tiny gadget comes with all the standard sensors and then some. For instance, the GEAK watch includes a GPS sensor, an FM radio, Bluetooth 4.0 as well as support for NFC pairing.
Not satisfied yet? Well, in case you want to catch some music without digging into your music, you can jack the headphone directly into this watch. You can also actively monitor your sleeping patterns, body temperature, blood pressure and a whole lot of other measures using the watch. In other words, it is also your comprehensive health-monitoring gadget.
Under the hood of this rather impressive smartwatch is 4GB of storage space, 512 MB of RAM and a 500mAh lithium battery which juices up the 1.55-inch multi-touch OGS display, offering a 240 x 240 resolution.
Initially, the smartwatch will be offered in China starting from July 3rd, with the price pegged at some $330. We are certainly hoping that GEAK will soon be bringing this mouth-watering device to other regions too.
