[Rumor] Google Abandons X Phone Project! What Is XFON Then?

Have you heard about the Google X Phone? I guess, many of our readers already heard rumors about it. The X Phone was largely speculated to be a flagship device developed by Google with some unique design features like unbreakable screen and double the battery life. Some were also saying that the device will actually come with a Motorola branding, since Motorola is solely owned by Google. After months of speculation, last month we saw a purported image of a device named XFON with the Motorola logo embossed on it.  The phone was speculated to be the ‘X Phone’. Seems, some people disagree.

X Phone

Yes, when reports are coming out ensuring that the Motorola XFON has got FCC certification and is headed for AT&T, a new rumor suggests that Google has abandoned the X Phone project. Oh Lord! What the hell is going on?

The new statement came from a Chinese analyst named Sun Chang Xu, whose Weibo page says that she has 18 years of industry experience. According to Xu, Google has abandoned the project because the company doesn’t have the technology or the innovation to develop the phone. What? Just last month Google CEO has been reported to say on public, “Having just seen Motorola’s upcoming products myself, I’m real excited about the potential there. In just under a year, they have accomplished a lot, and have impressive velocity and execution.” How come Google abandons the X Phone project now?

I think we should all stop here. And before paying attention to any other rumors, clarify some questions.

1. Under which brand the X Phone is coming? Google or Motorola?
2.  Who is developing the phone? Is it Google or Motorola or both?
3. What features will it pack?

I think, if we have these questions answered without ambiguity, we won’t have to burn our hair over the X Phone rumors again.
