Apple TV has been steadily vanishing off the shelves of major retailers. We earlier reported that it was no longer available with some main retailers of the device who had responded by saying that they were experiencing a reduced or no supply from Apple. Apparently, same has happened with folks at BestBuy.com who are out of stock on Apple TV and have been so ‘for a while.’
Google has been dabbling with the development of consumer products and devices for some time. In some cases, the devices did become a success and yet in other, they were a total failure. Now Google seems to be betting heavily on yet another consumer product, Google TV. According to Google, it has some ‘big announcements’ regarding Google TV. After in China Apple is accusing of selling counterfeited iPads as the name was previously registered by a local company, the nightmare could happen again if Apple insists on using the iTV name for the long rumored Apple television project. This time, the company that owns the ITV trademark, British TV network, warned Apple not to infringe its rights. The warning was issued two years ago, before the hype on the upcoming Apple smart television, and apparently Apple reassured the British company that they wouldn’t get into a legal fight over the name.
iPad 3 is all set to launch in the next month. What we can say with a certain sense of certainty about it is that it will have a display resolution of 2048*1536. This ultra-high resolution display can display 1080p content very easily. The problem, however, is that iTunes content does not exceed 720p and this goes the same for Apple TV. Ever since Apple announced it’s plans for an iTV, there had been rumors that Apple may use Siri as the key features in controlling the iTV. And now, while Apple still seems months away from such a product, Samsung has unveiled a TV remote which has the voice recognition enabled on it. You can switch channels, adjust volume and control even disc players with the remote. According to Samsung, this remote will be offered as part of Smart TV in 2012.
