Amazon’s Kindle Fire has been one of the true runaways hits in the tablet market, as of late. Just a while ago, in the third quarter of 2011, Amazon’s share in the tablet market was zero percent. Quite simply because Amazon has no tablet out there and was simply producing e-book readers. Then Amazon released Kindle Fire at the start of Q4 and within one quarter, this tablet was able to grab a huge 14 percent of the tablet market! This is what a new report from IHS Suppli says.

It seems like Amazon is finally preparing to up the competition against Apple’s iPad line of tablets. The launch date of iPad 3 is reportedly in February and the actual release of the device will come in March. As a result, is is being expected that Amazon’s Kindle Fire will have it’s sales affected greatly by the new Apple tablet. Amazon made some major sales during the holiday season.
