Google Rolls Out New Crossbreed Service – Google+ Local

Google has rolled out a new crossbreed service of Google+ and Zagat named Google+ Local on Wednesday. By using the ‘Local’ tool, users can discover and share information about nearby places which is actually featuring Zagat scores and recommendations from trusted Google+ users. Beside that, the new service embodies information from Zagat, which Google has bought for $151 million last September.

French Court Excuse Google On YouTube Copyright Issue

Search giant, Google has won a suit for YouTube copyright issue against French broadcaster TF1. French court ruled that Google is not responsible for filtering out pirated content on YouTube. The TF1’s filed the complaint against Google owned video sharing site YouTube on the ground that the site hosts user uploaded copyrighted sports and movies that were property of the broadcaster. Because of illegal hosting and failure to remove copyrighted contents by YouTube, TF1 asked for more than $176 million (~141 million euros) in damages from Google. French court, however, turned down the TF1’s plea and ordered the broadcaster to pay around $100,000 (~80,000 euros) to Google as legal fees.

Man Sues To Cancel Google’s Trademark

David Elliott from Arizona has filed a complaint in court to cancel all of search giant Google’s trademark. Elliot wants the court to declare ‘google’ as a word which means “search on the Web”. He filed the complaint after a court ruling in favor of Google earlier this month that forced him to hand over more than 750 website names like googlegaycruises.com and googledonaldtrump.com. Elliott claims that the domain names were registered to represent a venture he wants to start which would encompass commerce, charity, and more.
