iOS 5 Turns Apple TV Into A Game Console

Ben Dodson who is a freelance developer based in London has been playing around with the AirPlay wireless features of the iOS 5 beta and through the help of an iPad 2, he could essentially turn his Apple TV into a game console. This is achieved through AirPlay Mirroring mode which is one of the new features of iOS 5 that displays whatever you’re doing on your iPad 2 on to the Apple TV and any app that uses Apple’s TV-out functionality can now wirelessly send a secondary display image to your AppleTV……….

Rumor: Apple iPad 3 With 3D Display

CPT is showing an iPad modded with a 3D display at the Display Taiwan 2011 exhibition in Taipei and the display requires 3D glasses but its a little taste of the what future might have in store. CPT slotting a 3D 9.7-inch panel into a first-generation iPad chassis is probably a PR stunt to drum up their products at the show, but the video is nevertheless worth checking out and may be Apple will not take the 3D route with iPad 3, but one never knows………..

An interesting report from Asymco estimates that it costs Apple US$1.3 billion per year to run the iTunes store and the sum was reached by examining known numbers, like the total number of songs, movies, TV shows and apps that have been downloaded, plus the number of iTunes accounts and how much Apple has paid out to developers…………..

Nokia Patent License Fees Will Be Paid By Apple

Apple agrees to pay Nokia patent license fees, lawsuits dropped and the specifics of the agreement are confidential, but Nokia does say that Apple will make a one-time payment followed by on-going royalties. The agreement consists of a one-time payment payable by Apple and on-going royalties to be paid by Apple to Nokia and the amount of the payments isn’t being disclosed, but the agreement will have a positive financial impact on Nokia’s devices and services business this quarter………..

Apple iCloud Will Not Available For Windows XP

Windows XP users will finally need to upgrade to enter the iCloud and use of Apple’s iCloud service on a PC will require either Windows Vista or Windows 7. Apple’s only extended support for the Mac version of iTunes 10.3 back to OS X 10.5, but iTunes 10.3 and MobileMe both include Windows XP in the support list, it looks like Apple is shifting support away from the older OS……..

Apple Recalls Some Verizon iPads 2

Apple support forums have been flooded with users complaining about iPad 2s that won’t connect to Verizon Wireless’s CDMA 3G network and pple has given all the stores a list of serial numbers to scan, if company told to set aside and ship back to Apple, these are only for Verizon iPads. The first store to give notice had over 100 units to be sent back and the issue seems to only affect Verizon iPad 2′s right now, a similar situation to earlier in the year when customers visited the Apple forums to complain of Verizon iPad 2′s they had ordered being stopped and sent back…………
