Apple keeps patenting a number of innovative ideas and break-through technologies. This is not to say that all these will see the light of the day some time but we at least do know what we can expect in upcoming Apple products. Now, Apple has been granted a patent for a bluetooth headset that has a built-in MP3 player with it.
Apple has a knack of guarding its secrets. And although many rumors fly about Apple’s upcoming products, rarely does a speculator gets it right. Now, the famous French designer Phillippe Starck has revealed that he has been working with Apple on a ‘revolutionary’ product that will be unveiled within the next 8 months.
Apple has done an exceptionally good business on the tablet front recently with the launch of the new iPad. However, it seems that the iPhone sales still continue to contribute the largest chunk to Apple’s overall revenue. With Apple due to report its quarterly revenue within a week and a half, a Piper Jaffray analyst Gene Munster has stated that Apple will most probably report sales of 33 million iPhone devices and 12 millions iPad tablets during the first quarter of 2012!
With the meteoric rise in the fortunes and fame of Apple and its products, its antique products have also seen a huge bump in their value. We posted earlier about a 1984 Macintosh 128k machine which was eventually sold for a whooping $3,519. And now, another Macintosh machine has surfaced on eBay, this time the extremely rate edition that came with a Twiggy disk drive. The seller has stated the starting price for bidding at $99,995.
Life had been calm for Mac users when suddenly we were told that a certain Java exploit was being used by a Flashback Trojan to infect hundreds of thousands of Macs. Apple was prompt to respond and stated that it was working on a tool to counter this security threat. Now, Apple has released the software update which, it claims, can adequately take care of the Flashback Trojan.
We reported earlier that US Justice Department had filed a lawsuit against Apple and five other publishers over adopting the agency pricing model. Three of these publishers agreed to settle the case by paying millions of dollars. Apple, however, has now released a statement stating that the accusations against it are simply not true.
We reported a while ago that a certain malware named Flashback Trojan had made silent encroaches into Apple machines around the world and was able to infect some 600,000 Macs around the globe. Now, we have been told that Apple is working on a tool that will be able to detect the malware and then remove it from the user’s machine.
Amazon had been selling its e-books for $9.99 for quite some time, a model which brought it immense success. But then, Apple enticed a number of major e-book publishers to adopt an alternate method, one which brought Apple as well as the publishers better profits but also raised the prices of e-books. Now, Justice department has sued Apple and five e-book publishers over this – three have agreed to settle so far.
