Apple Turns To Samsung Amid iPad 2 Display Issues With LG

Apple has been forced to shift some of its orders for iPad 2 display panels from LG Display to Samsung and Chimei Innolux after quality issues at LG resulted in unacceptable yields with the panels failing to pass drop tests and also Apple has reportedly suspended new display orders with LG, which had been the largest panel supplier for the iPad 2, until the issues can be addressed. The iPad 2 demand far out-paced LGD’s ability to produce quality screens and Samsung has doubled its iPad 2 screen production forecast from 1 million units to 2 million units……………..

Amazon Kindle Cloud Reader

Amazon releases web-based Kindle Cloud Reader app, which is optimized for iPads and compatible with both Chrome and Safari, the new app is essentially a browser version of the Kindle eBook reader, providing PC, Mac and Chromebook users with access to their digitized libraries. The tool also offers local storage, allowing for offline reading, though Amazon’s device limit still applies and this cloud reader is unveils with relatively little fanfare or explanation, but its site highlights the service’s main attractions, including its iPad optimization. The cloud application is based on HTML5 and optimizes the reading device or computer being used, even though the book can be read instantly, it is still stored locally for offline reading……………

The numbers of applications in iTunes App Store are increasing day by day. Almost one month back, Apple announced that App Store has reached 425000 apps milestone out of which 100,000 were iPad apps. It has been revealed that App Store has finally surpassed 450000 applications out which 114,000 are optimized for iPad.

Google+ iOS App Now Available For iPad And iPod Touch

Google has updated its Google+ app for iOS to support the iPad and iPod touch. Although the Google+ interface looks nice, but no iPad interface so pixellated when run in 2x mode on the iPad. It’s usable but noticable worse looking than the same app running on the iPhone.

Skype Brings Compatibility For Apple’s Mac OS X Lion And Also Features HD Video Calling

Skype has released Skype 5.3, an update to its Mac software which brings support for OS X Lion and HD Video Calls and the jump to support Lion comes some three weeks after the release of Apple’s latest Mac OS X iteration. Skype reccomends a minimum upload speed of 1.5mB/s to use the HD video calling feature and made official support for Lion should fix some bugs that people have been experiencing. The upgrade to support Lion is a welcome one and although the much-maligned Mac interface has not recieved any significant changes in 5.3 and the HD video calling is also a great upgrade…………

HTC Bought Dashwire For User Data Backup Service

HTC purchases DashwireHTC has announced the purchase of Dashwire, a Seattle-based company that provides cloud services for Android, Windows Mobile, and Symbian smartphones and the purchase ould be worth as much as $18.5 million, which is said to strengthen HTC’s cloud services, but could also provide much-needed patents to the Taiwanese company. Dashwire’s technology will make its way to the company’s HTCSense.com cloud service and Dashwire is paying Intellectual Ventures for access to patents that it can use to defend itself from further patent litigation…………..
