The Asus Eee Pad Transformer might be the real Cinderella story of the tablet industry, and the story continues to get better. A new report out shows that Asustek Computer is shipping over 400,000 units per month of their Honeycomb powered Transformer tablet.
If those numbers don’t impress you, maybe the 500,000 units per month mark it is expected to make in Q3 2011, will impress you. According to Digitimes, the Transformer is showing some real potential, and is only expected to grow. So if these current numbers and expected numbers hold true, then Asus could easily meet their goal of 4-5 million tablets shipped by years end. Their initial estimate was 2 million tablets sold in 2011, which has more than likely been surpassed.
The Transformer has been hugely popular since its release this spring. Just recently has the supply caught up with the demand for the 10.1 inch convertible Android tablet. For a while it was almost impossible to get one, the reason being the price. Asus has made the Transformer very competitive by under cutting the competition with $399 price tag.
Being a Eee Pad owner myself, I’m glad to see how popular this device has become. In this ever growing tablet market, you have to find a way to stand out, and Asus did a great job with that.
