Last week, we saw a US judge deny Apple’s request to have four Samsung devices banned in US. According to the judge, there was no evidence that such an injunction would save Apple from any major damage. Apple lawyers had said that they would appeal against this ruling. And now they have.
As the legal battle rages on between Apple and Samsung, Apple may be in for a set-back in it’s home-ground, US. In a case filed by Apple against Samsung over alleged patent violations, the judge has rejected Apple’s request and has refused to ban Samsung’s smartphones and Galaxy Tab tablets in US. However, Apple has vowed to continue with it’s legal efforts against Samsung.
Ever since this April, Apple has been doggedly pursuing Samsung worldwide, accusing that the South Korean company copied the designs of iPad and iPhone. Samsung, of course, has resorted with counter-cases. We reported a while ago that an appeals court in Australia overturned the ban on Samsung’s Galaxy Tab. However, the court has allowed, on Apple’s request, to let the ban stay intact till Dec 9, when Apple will apply for an appeal against the ruling.
Windows Phone market has yet to fully realize it’s potential. However, with the release of Samsung Focus S, we can hope that the users’ eyes will finally shift to Windows Phone. With it’s ultra-light, ultra-thin design and smooth functioning, this latest smartphone is definitely a treat.
Samsung Galaxy Tab 8.9 is yet another nifty addition to the Android family. Thin, sleek and very light, the device runs smoothly on Android Honeycomb and has a fairly good battery life of about 9 hours.
A day ago, we reported that there’s a high probability that an Australian appeals court may overturn a ban imposed on Samsung’s tablet in Australia. The ban was imposed in response to Apple’s objection. As it is, our apprehensions were quite true. The ban was overturned by an Australian court on Wednesday.
