Apple Release Fix For Flickering Thunderbolt Display

Apple has posted a potential fix for those experience flickering Thunderbolt displays and the fix hasn’t been publicly announced but has been provided to users seeking help on the issue at Apple’s Discussion Forums. According to the company’s notes included with the update, the 24-inch LED Cinema Display Firmware Update will only install when connected to a Mac with the Thunderbolt interconnect and Apple also warns that using a Mini DisplayPort extender cable may not resolve the issue. Users are advised to disconnect non-essential USB and FireWire devices before applying the 926KB update and the firmware requires Mac OS X 10.6.8 or later……………

New iPhone 4 And iPod Touch Added In Apple’s Inventory System

Apple has reportedly added SKUs to its inventory system for two new iPhone models, as well as SKUs for three new iPod touches and the new iPhone SKUs may simply reference new iPhone 4 models. Apple To Discontinue iPod Classic And Shuffle

Apple may discontinue production of the iPod shuffle and the iPod classic with the iPhone 5 on the horizon, the sun may soon set on two of Apple’s long-time staples, the iPod shuffle and iPod classic. The classic is a holdover from 10 years of iPod existence, bearing many similarities to the original iPod and the shuffle is basically the same form factor as the nano, minus a screen. The classic uses a platter-based hard drive, while Apple is largely transitioning to flash-based memory solutions and the rumor stemmed from early speculation by CNET, which reported that only 8% of Apple’s fourth quarter earnings in 2010 came from iPod sales………………….

Apple Denied Trademark For Multi-Touch By Patent Office

The Trademark Trial and Appeal Board of the United States Patent and Trademark Office has denied Apple’s appeal to register a trademark for the term Multi-touch and Apple originally applied for the trademark on January 9th, 2007, the same day the iPhone was introduced. That application was denied by a lawyer for the USPTO and Apple then appealed to the Trademark Trial and Appeal Board. The appeal was dismissed as the trademark attorney thinks the term multitouch is pretty much generic by now and it was concluded that the term does not only identify the technology underneath, but rather describes a method of usage of a device………………

Apple Confirms Their Press Conference For October 4

It looks like those rumors about a 4th of October announcement for the next iPhone may be true and now Apple has issued invitations to the media for a special iPhone event, which confirms the previous reports that it would be held at Apple’s Cupertino campus. The invite included iOS icons such as the Calendar, a Clock that’s set a 10am, a Map and a Phone and is accompanied by the tag line Let’s talk iPhone. As to whether it’ll be an iPhone 5, 4S or some other new formation, we’ll all have to wait until the event to find out……………

Facebook To Launch iPad App At Apple Event

Facebook is planning to launch its iPad app and a new iPhone app at an October 4th Apple event and Facebook engineer Jeff Verkoeyen has left the company for Google after working 80 hour weeks on the Facebook iPad app which has been feature complete. The relationship between the two tech giants is warming up, thanks to the common goal of beating Google. Facebook and Apple seems to have realized that they both need to work together to beat Google and he former doesn’t have a mobile platform while the latter doesn’t have a social platform. Facebook has also been working on a project called Project Spartan for a long time and Facebook tried to get around Apple’s in-app purchase policy by developing a HTML5 based app store that can be accessed via iOS Safari browser……………

Apple To Release Curved Glass Device Next Year

Next-generation portable devices from Apple could feature curved glass, as the company has allegedly bought new equipment in preparation to release devices with curved touchscreens next year and Apple’s competitors reportedly view curved glass displays as a way they can gain a competitive advantage over the iPhone maker, but Apple is believed to also be showing interest in curved displays. Curved glass devices aren’t unknown to the industry and Dell tried to make convex glass a special feature of the Venue Pro and later the regular Android-based Venue.
