Approximately, 76.3 million units PC units shipped globally in the first quarter of 2013, which is 14% lower compared to the same period last yer. According to research firm IDC, this is the lowest PC sales since the firm started keeping track in 1994. IDC has blames Microsoft’s Windows 8 as the prime factor behind this decline.
California-based Vizio is best known in the tech world for its remarkable flat-screen televisions. The company entered the PC market last year with its 24-inch and 27-inch “All-in-One” units. After the release of Windows 8 OS, Vizio is ready with its first Windows 8 tablet. And recently, the company has unveiled new pricing details for those Windows 8 PCs, featuring new touchscreen notebook and all-in-one products.
The Razer Edge is a new gaming tablet that runs on Windows 8 OS. The tablet has the capability of holding the title “Future of Computing” for its extra-ordinary features. The tablet can reinvent itself as a handheld gaming device — a tablet, a console and a computer — right before your eyes. CNET calls it, aptly, the “Swiss Army gaming tablet.”
On the same day, Microsoft Chief Steve Ballmer was celebrating his 57th birthday, an early build of Windows Blue, Microsoft’s next update of Windows, was leaked online. The leaked Windows Blue build, numbered 9364, was a partner version compiled on March 15.
According to sources, Intel’s Haswell chip (Intel’s upcoming latest generation chip) and Windows Blue (an upcoming upgrade of Windows 8 operating system) are tied together. The duo will work together to deliver high performance with huge battery life improvements.
Microsoft has sold 1.5 million Surface tablets so far, according to a tweet from Bloomberg reporter Dina Brass. The figure includes Surface RT units launched last October, and Surface Pro tablet launched last month.
