Apple has been entangled in a dispute with Shenzhen Proview Technology over the use of term ‘iPad.’ Proview had earlier claimed that it had rights over the term and that Apple was illegally using it. Apple then countered this by stating that it had purchased the rights to use this term by purchasing it from another company which, in turn, had bought it from Proview. Now, apparently, the authorities have determined that the rights of the purchase Apple made doesn’t extend to China and Proview indeed has a valid claim. Chinese authorities have started seizing iPad devices from the market.

Although Samsung is perhaps among the most well-known brands in Korea, it’s share in the overall tablet sales in Korea is just a fraction of that of Apple’s share. After in China Apple is accusing of selling counterfeited iPads as the name was previously registered by a local company, the nightmare could happen again if Apple insists on using the iTV name for the long rumored Apple television project. This time, the company that owns the ITV trademark, British TV network, warned Apple not to infringe its rights. The warning was issued two years ago, before the hype on the upcoming Apple smart television, and apparently Apple reassured the British company that they wouldn’t get into a legal fight over the name.
