There have been a lot of rumours that Apple was trying to acquire Anobit Technologies, an Israeli company. Anobit Technologies produces flash-memory drive, both for iPhone and iPad. In this latest update, Apple has confirmed that it has acquired the company. Steve Dowling, a spokesperson for Apple, said that he couldn’t disclose the plans of Apple regarding Anobit. It has been estimated that Apple sealed the deal at about $400 – $500 million.
Foxconn has been one of Apple’s main manufacturers for iPad. However, according to DigiTimes, this is about to change. As per sources in Apple’s supply chain, Pegatron Technology will be replacing Foxconn as the major manufacturer of iPad in the coming days. Pegatron has already started the production of iPad 3 and reportedly will be the main manufacturer of iPad 4.
The holiday season has been a particularly sweet pie for Apple as it sold the most devices through the season. Even the pricey MacBook Air, one of the priciest products by Apple, witnessed an overall sales of 1.2 million during the holidays. This makes the December quarter the highest-sales quarter for MacBook Air as Apple sold 200,000 more MacBook Airs in the December quarter compared to the September quarter. The update on MacBook Air is that Apple will soon be introducing in them, Intel’s next-gen Ivy Bridge processors.
According to a recent research, Apple will continue an excellent sales profile into the year 2012. The research says that in 2012, the overall sales of iPhone devices will reach 116.4 million whereas that of iPad devices will reach 55 million. These sales figure predict that Apple will sell 20 million more iPhone devices in 2012 than it did in 2011. This increase in expected sales is largely a result of an excellent sales profile Apple maintained through the last quarter of 2011.
